Salsa social for expats in Seoul, Korea
As a foreigner, it's hard to find the places to dance in Seoul. Even Koreans themselves who just found it interesting to dance Salsa, it's hard too. Because in Korea, dance community is only open to some korean people who are already good at dance and also due to the character Korean people have which is shy at something new or something they don't know or start new, they try not to dance but to watch. That might be why there are only 15 to 20 Salsa clubs in one of the biggest cities in the world, Seoul. For me that jumped in dancing Salsa last year, it was hard to find dance communities which is opened to only some people.
Also it's easier to find clubs which are rare compared to the size of the city than find communities or studios teach dances and let people socialize like other countries. Even as a foreigner, there had been almost no community or studio teaching dance until the dance studio which is named "You Can Dance!" in Seoul, Korea.
The "You Can Dance!" is very special because it has dance lessons such as Salsa, Tango, Swing, Chacha and so on taught by foreign instructors in English as well as located in Itaewon where is the one of the most convinient area to approach. (It's even in the specialized street for it's internation food-even the city named it 'the street of World Food&Culture'. This street was mentioned over a hundred times by massmedia. Also English newpaper companies such as Korea times, Joong-ang E-daily and English magazines such as the Groove and the Eloquance already had the article about this studio.
We don't even need to be afraid to go alone as a foreigner since they already have made themselves with the foreign atmostphere and fun factors. I went to their Wine&Salsa party and was surprised and happy that they were so warm and friendly to everyone.
Now expats living in Korea, Don't think that there's no studio for foreigners. Because you can still dance!
